Happy Camper’s mission is to provide children the opportunity to attend camp who otherwise would be unable to have such an experience.
Children and youth look forward to school breaks when they will have time away from the demands of the classroom. The Happy Camper Program receives requests from school staff, social workers, and parents for financial assistance with camp expenses. A Happy Camper application for financial assistance must be completed. A character checklist from the child’s teacher or other adult leader as well as a discipline report from the school must be submitted with the application. Families or parents may be asked to share in the cost of camp depending on their household’s gross income.
Happy Camper believes that attending a summer camp is an invaluable experience providing long term intangible benefits for Franklin County children by giving these young people a positive experience that they otherwise would not receive.
Local businesses, United Way, Social Services, church and community leaders continue to collaborate to support the community’s ongoing desire to provide this program to Franklin County children.
