The Planning & Inspections Department is available to the public by appointment only by email or phone by calling (919) 496-2281 for Inspections or (919) 496-2909 for Planning. All guests will be required to utilize a mask and will be limited to one visitor at a time. Staff can be accessed via phone or email during normal business hours. We ask that you leave a message if we are unable to answer your call as we strive to provide a timely response. Inspection requests will proceed as normal with the exception of occupied dwellings where a special inspection needs to be requested for an electronic inspection. Our online permitting system is operational and can be found on the department’s webpage, https://www.franklincountync.us/services/planning-and-inspections. *Due to the recent COVID-19 virus, the inspections department will not do any inspections where the inspector has to enter an occupied(lived in) dwelling. This includes but not limited to mechanical inspections; electrical inspections, bonus room additions or remodels.
