It has come to my attention that there are individuals posing as contractors/employees of the Franklin County Tax Office in order to gain access to resident’s properties and houses. I would like to assure our residents that we currently do not have any contracts with any outside vendors requiring them to access, view or for that matter, visit anyone in Franklin County.
We do have full-time appraisers who are county employees that will make visits to properties in the normal course of our duties. All of these visits will be accomplished using a county vehicle (logo present with permanent tags). The appraisers will be clearly displaying their county employee badge. Finally, all visits will be made during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. The only exception to these rules will be at the request of a taxpayer for their convenience.
The sheriff has informed me that if there are any questions whether individuals are with the county or not, they should contact 911 before allowing them any access to their property.
