Our Drug Unit is comprised of a Sergeant and 3 agents who continuously go through extensive training at the state and federal level. These special agents go under cover in Franklin county as well as other counties in the state in an attempt to curb large and small scale drug activities. This unit also handles all the Vice Crimes in the county as well as Dog Fighting and Cock Fighting. They work closely with SBI, DEA, ALE, Franklin County Animal Control, the local police departments, and the surrounding counties.

Work by the Drug Unit over the last 6 months:

  • 49 drug arrests
  • 8 non drug related arrests
  • Executed 30+ search warrants


  • 20+ pounds of Marijuana
  • 900+ grams of Synthetic Marijuana
  • 450+ grams of Cocaine and Crack Cocaine
  • 1.5 ounces of Meth
  • 2+ grams of Heroin
  • 15+ gallons of illegal liquids (non tax paid liquor and cough syrup)
  • 39 guns
  • Over $11,000.00 in counterfeit goods being sold illegally in Franklin County
  • 10+ pounds of Prescription pills turned over to the drug unit for disposal which were seized due to illegal activity

Vice activity within the last year:

  • 2 arrests for dog fighting
  • 18 arrests for cock fighting
  •  NOTE** Three of these people were charged federally
  • 100+ animals seized and adopted out by animal control to include dogs, chickens and a horse.

These fine agents work continuously to help keep our neighborhoods safe. All information or leads given to the Drug unit is kept confidential and followed up on.

Citizens need to keep in mind that drug and vice investigations are very time consuming. To catch the "big fish" it may take months or years of painstaking meticulous investigation, buys, and documentation. The time spent is well worth it in the end.
