The Franklin County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Travis Philbeck.
The Patrol Division is comprised of 41 full time deputies and 7 part time deputies. The patrol officers respond to calls for service from the citizens of Franklin County. Your call to 911 will most likely be answered by one of our patrol officers. We responded to approximately 29,059 calls in 2013. That comes out to approximately one call every 18 minutes. The patrol officers are also responsible for serving criminal and civil warrants.
The Patrol Division also assists with:
- Funeral Escorts
- Escorts for Charity Events
- Search and Rescue operations
- Transportation of mental health patients
- Unlocking vehicles with children or pets inside
- Assisting fire and rescue personnel
- Calls for service from other counties
- Assist local Police departments on request
In the Patrol Division there are several different units. They are:
Patrol: Patrol is divided into 4 squads which provide 24 hour service to the citizens of Franklin County. Each squad has a Sergeant and a Corporal to monitor and supervise their shift.
Civil: Civil squad has a Sergeant and 4 deputies under 1st Sergeant Upchurch. They handle all the Civil process, evictions, writs of possession, etc.
School Resource Officers: We currently have 6 school resource officers monitored by a Sergeant. These officers are in the schools that are out in the county. We also have a Juvenile/DARE officer in this unit.
Scope: Our Scope team is under the Patrol Division but they work hand in hand with the Investigative Division as well.
