One of the most important duties of the Sheriff in North Carolina is the safety of the Judge and Courtroom Security.
Bailiffs: Franklin County Sheriff's Office has 7 Bailiffs who maintain control and order of the courts. They assist with opening and recessing court sessions, maintaining order of the court, calling out defendants and seeing to the needs of Jurors and the Grand Jury.
Court Security Officers: We have three Court Security Officers who man the entrances to the courthouses. Everyone must pass through metal detectors to enter the courtrooms.
Jail Transport Officers: The Jail Transport Officers are armed jailers who are in charge of transporting inmates from the jails to their court appearances. They maintain control of the inmates throughout the court proceedings.
