Brandi S. Davis, Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds offices serves as the custodian for documents related to real estate located in Franklin County.  The real estate documents date back to 1776.  These documents include deeds, deeds of trust, powers of attorney, maps, etc.  Our office also maintains military discharge records.

You may obtain copies of vital records, such as births, deaths and marriage certificates from this office.  Our birth and death records date back to 1913 and are for those that were born or died here in Franklin County.  Our marriage certificates date back a little further to 1869, but we also have a bond book that goes even further, 1779.  We issue the marriage licenses for those who are getting married and you may now marry in any county in North Carolina, even if you get the license from Franklin County.

We now have the capability to issue birth certificates from 1971 forward through the state vital record system, VRAS, for counties other than Franklin.  There is an additional charge in order to use this system.  If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact our office.
